It’s basically science which dictates that the day you decide to indulge in absolute slobbery is the same day you will run into your ex; if you’re really lucky he might also have his new girlfriend with him, and of course she’ll look particularly babin’, stuck in that new-relationship/pretend-you-don’t-own-track-pants phase.
I’m by no means suggesting to get dolled up every single time you leave the house, ain’t nobly got time for that – Plus, science also dictates that the times you do think you’re going to run into an ex and actually go to an effort to convince them that your life is so much better with out them, will be the time they don’t attend that mutual friends birthday, even if they do click attending on Facebook.
So, here’s how to dress on the daily, while also preparing for the inevitable run in..
Wear outfits you like
Even if your outfit is technically ‘fashionable’, if you don’t particularly like it, or it’s doesn’t ‘feel like you’ you may as well be wearing a hessian sack. Choose outfits that suit your lifestyle, personality, body shape and sense of style. If you’re dressed the way you like, you’ll feel much more comfortable when faced with unforeseen awkward circumstances.
Wear outfits you’re comfortable in
This doesn’t mean spending everyday in track pants with no bra.. It just means choosing outfits that don’t cut off, don’t have to be constantly adjusted, and will withstand general day-to-day activities (walking up stairs, getting out of cars, running to the train, eating burgers, etc). An outfit you feel comfortable in will immediately make you feel more confident and less self aware.
Most Importantly: Always dress for yourself. Even if you happen to live in the same apartment block as your ex, work in the same office, or share the same friendship group, where you will undoubtedly run into them at some point – Dressing for yourself will always say you’ve moved on and you’re fine with it, much more than dressing to prove a point will.
